Dr. Herrmann attended the Georg August University of Göttingen, Germany, and Vienna, Austria. He received his medical degree in 2000. He completed his Urology residency at Heinrich Heine University, Düsseldorf, Germany and Hanover Medical School. In 2003 he completed a 6 month fellowship in Endourology, Minimally Invasive Surgery and Kidney Transplantation at the Muljibhai Patel Urological Hospital (MPUH) in Nadiad, India. In 2013 he graduated with professoral thesis at the Hanover Medical School.
Dr. Herrmann is vice chairman and Ass. Professor of the Department of Urology and Urological Oncology. Director at the Hanover Medical School (MHH). He is chief of Endourology and Laparoscopy at the same department. His research interests focusses on laser soft tissue surgery of the prostate and bladder, where he developed Thulium assisted anatomical enucleation of the prostate (ThuLEP) and transurethral anatomical en bloc resection of bladder tumors (ERBT). As another field bipolar current applications in endourology, namely bipolar enucleation of the prostate (BipolEP) and the development of novel tools, such as the combined mechanical bipolar vapoenucleation probe (Karl Storz, GER) are his field of interest. In addition, he has conducted extensive research in the field of laparoendoscopic single site surgery (LESS) in transumbilical technique (SITUS) as well as minimal-invasive percutaneous nephrolithotomy (MIP / Mini PNL).
Dr. Herrmann is also a Faculty Staff Member of the Urological Oncology Unit. He has published several papers in national and international journals as well as presented his research at several international conferences. Also he has been invited for live surgery meeting on all mayor meetings in Europe on multiple occasions.
Dr. Herrmann is Associate Editor of the World Journal of Urology and Editor of the Urology Collection of Springer Plus. Furthermore he is Editorial Board member of Asian Journal of Andrology reviewer of multiple international journals.
