Description
Dissection of the ureter.
-
In order to maintain ureteral vascularization, perirenal fat between the kidney and the gonadal vein (also known as “The Golden Triangle”) must be preserved.
-
Creating a plane between the ureter and the perirenal fat exposes the psoas muscle.
-
Following the psoas muscle plane will free the lower pole of the kidney.
-
Periureteral fat should be respected and traction to the ureter should be minimal.
