Approach to common and external iliac arteries i. The external iliac artery is localized behind the peritoneum. The latter is opened exposing the ureter and the iliac vessels. ii. The peritoneal incision is prolonged following the external iliac artery up to the exposition of the vas deferens, which should be cut.
